MicroSquirt.com read only forum (Jan.15,2018)

I like to use a coil pack (wasted spark) on my 4-cylinder 1700cc motor. Right now I'm using MicroSquirt with a distributor and a Bosch 0 227 100 124 ignition module and a 36-1 toothed trigger wheel wit the Hall sensor. Thinking about about the Ford EDIS-4 coil pack. Do I still need an ignition module with this coil pack. If I do what is the advantage of using the EDIS-4 coil pack over an conventional coil pack?

EDIS-4 coil packs still need the external ignition module. They're pretty conventional coil packs. The main reason that you hear a lot about EDIS is that the EDIS ignition module was one of the first distributorless ignitions that the MegaSquirt team was able to support. Distributorless ignition control has come a long way since then.
