Microsquirt V3 Running Dynatech Ignition

I have seen a lot of info on running a Dynatech ignition on a motorcycle using Microsquirt, but I am still not totally clear on the setup, so I am hoping I can get some clarification. If the answers are posted on another topic link, let me know and I will gladly go there. I am installing a Microsquirt V3 on my Honda CB750 running a Dynatech ignition. I want to let the Microsquirt run the ignition as well as the fuel, but I know I can't run the coils directly from the Microsquirt. My plan is to read the Hall sensor with the Microsquirt and then have Microsquirt pass the signal to the Dynatech unit. I am running 2 coils in a wasted spark configuration currently. There are two hall sensors. I know how to connect the sensors to the Microsquirt. My question is, how do I wire the Microsquirt signal out to the Dynatech unit. Has anyone set up something like this? Will my idea work, or should I just run fuel only and let Dynatech handle the spark? If I go fuel only, how do I get a signal from the Dynatech unit to the Microsquirt so it knows the RPMs? Thanks for any help. This forum has always proven to be a wealth of great info.

Are you using Dyna S or Dyna 2000. I run fuel only and let the Dyna 2000 programmable look after spark. The Dyna 2000 has a tach wire that inputs into the microsquirt. With the Dyna S you would have to condition a tach signal from the coils as per the guide. The microsquirt cannot run the Dyna coils directly without a driver unit. I have toyed with the idea of using the Dyna 2000 to drive the coils using a signal from the microsquirt using toothed wheels, but cannot see any real advantage, even with a turbcharged engine. The programmable Dyna 2000 units are reliable and are easy to setup.

Thanks Wombat258. I am running the Dynatech 2000 and the more thought I gave it, the more I am was leaning towards running just fuel only with the microsquirt. I had thought about switching to some GM coils to run from the Microsquirt, but then I have to figure out where to mount them at. Looking like the Dynatech is the best solution.

Wombat 258, one follow-up question. My Dyna 2000 has a Green tach wire that outputs 1 pulse per revolution and a yellow wire that outputs 2 pulses per revolution. I am assuming that I will be connecting the yellow wire to the microsquirt since the microsquirt is interested in each time the engine fires so it knows to inject fuel. Is this correct?

Yes, use yellow tach wire. Ignition settings - Rising edge, Trigger rise, Trigger wheel teeth = 0. That should cover it.

which input do you wire the Dyna tach output into?
