Microsquirt vss output for dc motor

hi guys,
I am about to retrofit 4L80E into my 1974 GMC Suburban. I have decided and ordered a Microsquirt for controlling it.
My Suburban has a mechanical speedometer and the transmission only has an electrical output signal. There are all kinds of +$300,- solutions from dc motor driven boxes to adapter tailhouses that hold a speedo gear. But I found this topic about the MSGPIO board using a DC motor to do the same thing:

Would it be possible to do the same thing with the Microsquirt using one of its outputs?
I am absolutely 100% new to this, so please ben gentle with me. LOL
