MicroSquirt.com read only forum (Jan.15,2018)

Hey Guys,

I know it is possible to read Data FROM the a MEGAsquirt with a Racepak module over the CAN bus. My question is: Does it go both ways. Can the Microsquirt or Megasquirt read data from the racepak?

Yes the Racepak can in theory act as a GPIO device and request data from the ecu or tell the ecu it has data to send it. In both cases it has to tell the ecu from what memory location to send requested data or where to put the data the Racepak is going to send. In both cases it also has to tell the ecu how much data is involved. However, this logic has to be implemented in the Racepak software and someone with first hand experience will have to answer that question.

Currently, Racepak's dashes are only programmed to read data over the serial connection.
