Replacing carburator (1964 T-Bird) with EFI

I'd like to put an EFI on the T-bird. From scratch. What's the best starting point?
Ideally would be a "unbolt carburetor" bolt on a carburetor body with EFI. Plus new fuel pump.
All the forums treat real detail stuff. But I need to start from nothing. Any suggestions?
Tks
Glenn

We went through a similar project on a Chevy Nova with a full sized MegaSquirt. See this link for a detailed write up.

Thanks. I guess the first step is to find the equiv carb/EFI that fits a 1963 Ford 390 Cu in intake. I want to avoid changing the intake mani. I'm in Europe, and you CAN'T do what I want (illegal). I'd want to be able to "switch" back to the old...just in case ;-) The brute force method of getting an old carb body that fits, drilling, installing 4 injectors, and plugging the holes would be my easiest (and safest) bet. I've heard of this...I still need the std throttle linkage and stuff (auto transmission). The rest I could figure out. :RTFM:
My interest is NOT power first..Easy start, econo, even lower the pollution. ("ruined" up laws...you can't modify stuff to reduce pollution)

You might be able to find a Chevy 454 truck throttle body - I don't know if they were ever sold in Europe, but there's a fair number of people selling them in the US online.
