VE table question

Post by pommie02 »

i am trying to get a good transition point on my ve table.
because its a bike and a 11000 red line, my rev settings are about a 1000 revs apart.
i have noticed that my afr drops as it reaches the next point.
does the pointer move at half way between the two points ?
example ... i have rpm bins set at 2000 and 2800 . does the pointer cross over at 2400

thanks gary

Gary,

If I understand correctly, you are wondering how the transition between the VE table points is handled.

The MS-II (and all MS codes) does what is called linear interpolation to get smoothly from one point to the other. Let's do a simple 1-D example, with an a VE of 10 at 1000 RPM and a VE of 20 at 2000 RPM. When you are at 1500 RPM, the calculated VE is on the line between the two surrounding points, so 15 in this case. Extend this to a 2-D surface, and you have the MS algorithm. The bottom line is that there are no jumps in the transitions, they are all nice and smooth.

(Here are some pictures that show the 1-D case, the blue line segments are what MS would calculate: http://www.not2fast.com/efi/spacing.shtml )

Hope I'm answering the right question,
Eric
