Help...

Hi my name is Justin and i am a member of an efficiency car vehicle based in southern indiana. we are currently intrested in using a microsquirt system for our car. The engine is a briggs and stratton 3.5 hp single cylinder that has been sleeved down to accept a honda 50cc piston and head. we are looking at fuel injection as an option for this year and none of use are very familiar with this system or even fuel injection. any help as to a parts list would be greatly appreciated as we are in the dark at the moment. Is this going to be controlling fuel only, or fuel and ignition? As a general rule, here's what should be on your shopping list.

Microsquirt
MAP sensor
Coolant or cylinder head temperature sensor
Intake air temperature sensor
Throttle body with TPS
Idle air control valve (optional; a Ford 2.3 valve looks to be a good junkyard bet)
Fuel injector and mounting bung (you may be fabricating the mounting bung)
Fuel pump
Fuel pressure regulator
Relays and fuses as shown in the wiring diagram
Oxygen sensor - preferably a wideband O2 sensor system like an Innovate LC-1 or similar

This will be a fuel and ignition set-up. Also will anything special need to be done since we have a single cylinder engine? And what type of throttle body do you recommend since this engine is carburated at the moment?

It's easiest to get ignition control on a one cylinder with a missing tooth crank or cam wheel.

You can probably use a throttle body off an existing 50 cc fuel injected scooter.

For the throttle body, since you're looking for maximum possible VE, I would look at some of the throttle designs that provide no restriction at WOT. A few years ago on the Yahoo MS group someone displayed a disc-type throttle that would not be too difficult to fab. Other possibilities are slide-type valves or more elaborate single or twin barrel roller throttles.

Edit: By the way, what's the final displacement going to be?
