Anyone here using Holley Projection 4 barrel throttle body injection unit swith MS-II? I'm thinking of buying the Holley unit being I have a Edelbrock RPM intake and want to make an easier swap to FI. I will be using this setup for a 427 Big Block Chevy. I'm asking because I heard the new units are progressive throttle bodies and haven't seen too many installs like this.

Going on this motor.....

I was running MSII on one vehicle. Stock 440 Dodge. Required a hack of the code to support the progressive linkage. It did well enough for me. Dropped back to a carb recently for multiple reasons. Ran on MSII when it came out, til about a month ago. I believe you can purchase the linkage from Holley to make it 1:1. I know they sell to adapt the unit to progressive.

I'll check into that when I call Holley.....I will also keep an eye out on E Bay for a 1:1 TB.

I'm running a 900cfm version with 1:1 linkage. Seems to work great.

Do you have any pics of your setup? Did you convert a progressive to a 1:1 or is it an older 1:1 unit?

I didn't convet it so it must be an older unit.. although it did come with the newer style injectors.

I sent you a PM, so you know this much - but if you haven't already got a holley tb, I wouldn't really recommend it... I had all kinds of injector problems with mine... then they stopped manufacturing the injectors and replacing them would have cost nearly $500 (would have had to buy 4 new style injectors at $80 then the new style tower assembly at $120). I'm sure there are those who had good luck with the thing, but I'm DEFINITELY not one of them.

Having said that, with the injectors out, it's making a fine 'empty' throttle body for my port setup

I know Lance used (maybe still does?) the same way, as an empty throttle body. I don't know if he actually had trouble with it too, or if he just decided to switch to port injection.

Have you looked into the cost/work difference in doing port injection? My 440 needed custom work done to the manifold (nobody sells a 440 port injection manifold yet, though edelbrock makes one for their kit), but even with that I was surprised at how easy it was to setup, and it really wasn't much more expensive either.

Even the new throttle bodies are junk? I was wanting to go this route because I didn't really want to remove the intake manifold and keep cost down a little. I am getting ideas anyway right now, thanks for the heads up.

In all honesty I can't say they are 'junk' - mine might have been a lemon. Plus, I've never dealt with the new ones...

But you know, a really bad experience makes a person not want to deal with a particular brand again...

Still, I'm just one person, there could be a lot of people who have good experiences, too.

For me, though, I'll not be getting anything holley while I have a choice

I'll try a new throttle body and give it a whirl....
