When does peak power occurs? .55v on the narrow O2? or .8v?

When does peak power occurs? .55v on the narrow O2? or .8v?

Post by Alonso »

:D Megasquirt II running fine with msd 6a and v3 board and firmware 2.1 but....

on full throttle im running with .7~.8v on the narrow o2 sensor
but which kind of mixture likes the aircooled vw type 1 engine ?with lets say an engle 110 cam?and 108 Lobe center angle?
every thing points to .55v to .65v on the O2 will make peak power on full throttle it sounds lean for me so for protection im using right now .75 to .85v on the O2 on open loop and full throttle but....
is there any risk to melt anything inside the engine?
engine is naturally aspirated. and around 9.1 cr.

let me be more specific... at .55v to .65 i really feel like some body is kicking my seat

but with .75v to .85v that kick on the seat driver disapears then the question again is

wich one of these is safer? wich one will avoid melting something inside the engine?
anybody had similar results???

To be safe go with the 0.75 to 0.85V. Just as one example, my engine runs at around 13.5:1 AFR with a narrowband reading of around 0.82 to 0.84V, but that is just one example and everyone is different. If your car feels lean then richen it up at least until it drives well. It will be difficult to tune well without a wideband. Running rich will help avoid any meltdown.

hey thanks but....my real doubt is this one.

Thats why im running rich to avoid any meltdown inside the engine

but to be fully clear, everything points that this engine likes
14:1 almost stoichometric on full throttle and in every shift gear it feels like somebody crashes behind i really feel the power of the engine but i have fear to leave that settings in the .55 to .65 v on the O2 sensor because of a possible meltdown.G-tech says 75 Hp@4730 and 123lbft @4320 this setting is the best i found for quarter mille racing but the almost stoichometric setting leaves me in doubt this one feels nice  for quarter mille revenge tomorrow on the track but leaves me in doubt if something can meltdown. ¿perhaps going leaner makes more power and torque? havent try that yet, until hearing more advise from this forum.

instead using .75v to .85v readings on the O2 and in open loop this setting makes the go slower at full throttle i dont feel the power of the engine and it feels like the engine is getting sleep. G-TECH SAYS 44 hp and 60 lbft torque at 3900 rpm both

the main difference between both of this are 4 points more increase of fuel for all of the full throttle curve. for the rich mixture setting.
