PIP signal 5 V instead of 12 V

Hello,

I have a little problem: my engine is running very good with MS II and the EDIS ignition but the PIP signal isn't 12 V but 5 V!!

My trigger wheel is OK, my Vr sensor is Ok: I think that the problem comes from the EDIS module.
If someone has informations about that, it would be great.

Kind regards

Hi,

With what have you measured the 5v? The PIP is a square wave, it's 12V p-p (unloaded). If you measure it with a multimeter, see 6V (DC) at best.
Check this for more info.

If you use the opto input, it can load the PIP signal so that it will be only 6-8V p-p, depending on the series resistor.
What type of input do you use (opto, VR)?

I have measured the signal with an electronic scope and i saw that the signal was a square wave of 5 V.
i don't understand, i think I'm going to use another EDIS module to see if the problem is the module.

Thanks.

Depends if you load the pip signal. Try to measure the signal with nothing connected to it.

Ok, I didn't think that the fact of loading the PIP would decrease the voltage but I'm going to measure the signal with nothing connected.

thanks.
