No sensors response with MS2 & Megatune. Faulty MS2 ?

Hi

I've been using MS1 for a year, no problem.

I've upgraded to MS2 and testing it on the stim I have problems..

Downloaded and installed firmware 2.35 no problems (tried 2.33 as well, the same).
Comms to MS2 no problems, settings upload/download between laptop and MS2 as expected.

BUT

Running megatune I have no movement on the sensors gauges. none of them!
Measuring voltage at the relevant pins on the 40-pin socket I can see the variations in voltage when moving pots on the stim. But no response on the Megatune gauges.

Stim injector LEDs flash OK and flash rate changes according to RPM pots. All this indicates to me that MS2 is doing its job OK. Trouble is I can't see any of it happening on the laptop..

Removed MS2 and put in MS1 processor, with pin 16 removed. Set up megatune for MS1 and instantly I can see the gauges moving when I turn the pots on the stim.

Reinstalled MT, still the same. Tried MT 300b11beta, still the same.
Tried reinstalling MS2 firmware, still the same.

Am I missing something stupid or do I have a faulty MS2?
I can't see that I've done anything wrong, its a simple upgrade.

Ideas please??

Thanks
Rich

Rich,

Did you set the CODE_VARIANT to MS_II and activate the appropriate INI file as described here: http://www.megasquirt.info/ms2/configure.htm#install?

Hi Lance, a bit quick there :)

Yes, all ini files set as per instructions.

Should have mentioned, MAP sensor gives no response in MT either.

The only thing I am seeing in response to stim changes is the 'ready' box bottom left of MT main screen changes to 'not ready' momentarily when I rapidly reduce the RPM value by turning the pot

No ideas anyone?

I've had to revert to MS1 for now which is working perfectly. So at the moment the MS2 is an expensive small ornament.... :(
I will try and borrow another MS to test the MS2 module.

I was thinking maybe sensor earth problems but further testing on the MS2 board has proved all earth connections at the processor from the 40 pin header are OK, so no broken earth tracks. Nothing obvious at all.

Maybe I've missed something with comms somewhere??

I set megasquirtII_2.3 as the ini file for megatune.
I downloaded the latest s19 file and loaded it onto the MS no problem.
I selected MS2 settings in configurator, set engine settings and VE & spark tables. These all uploaded to MS2 without errors.

Still same response.. no gauges showing anything on megatune.

Only sign of life is injector LEDs flashing on stim. Flashing rate changed with RPM pot change.

Maybe your COM port isn't changing speeds?

9600 for MS1, 115200 for MS2

Maybe you're using a USB-serial adapter and the VCP driver is misbehaving. Try going into Windows control panel and forcing the higher baud rate as your default?

Thanks for the reply :)

Com is set at 115000, and using a port replicator straight into serial port.

Rich,

You don't explicitly mention setting the CODE_VARIANT - did you do this? It is a separate step to setting the INI file.

Sorry Lance, Yes CODE_VARIANT is set to 'set MS_II' in the settings.ini file in my car folder.

Rich

code variant must match the firmware

code variant

firmware inside the msquirt2 unit must match mtunecode variant just change the name by hand depending on your version
