V3 flyback problem?, current limit must be at 70% or above

Post by John L. »

I wasn't really sure where to post, but first I need to figure out if my settings are wrong for sure so I'll post here.

I'm running: MS-I v3.0, MT v2.25b717, Extra024s13c

I added all the flyback components as I'm using Bosch 35 lb/hr low impedance injectors, stock for a Ford 2.3T in later years. I just measured the resistance to get a rough idea of impedance and measured appx. 1.5 ohms, very low.

I realized thanks to Wes K. that I should be able to run something around 30% current limit with the flyback circuits, I was unknowingly running 80%. However when trying to cut the limit down, 50% made the car die when giving any throttle and 60% was very lean and I could never get enough fuel under boost. I went back to 70% and things are fine but I guess this means something may be wrong. Opening time: 1.0 ms, PWM Time Threshold: 1.3 ms, Voltage Correction: .20 ms/V, Required fuel with 37 lb/hr injectors (35 pounders at 45 psi base pressure): 10.0/5.0

I've searched through everything imaginable, MM, old posts, and can't figure it out. Could I have already toasted something with that initial high setting? It runs just fine, I haven't checked the injectors after running them for a while though, to see if they are getting hot. Not sure what other info might be needed, let me know.

Thank you,
John Lewis

This might be a silly question, but did you change your VE and Accel enrichments when you changed your PWM?

I said up there that I could never get enough fuel under boost, I was pushing 200% VE and was still lean at 60% PWM. I never messed with accel enrichments but it was like a complete cutout and fizzle when hitting the throttle at 50% PWM, I have hardly any accel dialed in anyway, and it runs fine, just a few tenths of a ms I believe.

I figured it out, flyback wasn't working because I left out R32 and R36. DOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!! I think I can get it now, I guess everything will be okay if I go to 30% or so and start from there?
