Individual throttle bodies, drivability?

Hello,
This may be in the wrong forum, not sure. I have to build an intake manifold for my V6 engine from scratch and was wondering about the drivability when converting to individual throttle bodies. Are there any real downsides to them, are they worth the work on a street car? Are there any megasquirt related problems with using them?

thanks for any input,
allen

I think that whether your engine/vehicle will benefit from ITBs is dependent on a few variables - intended use, cam timing, exhaust, etc. ITBs are generally considered to be more for the higher revving applications and have a reputation of lowering low end torque. As far as drivability goes, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting them to cooperate nicely.

Well, it's for a daily driver so torque is very important to me but so is high HP :D

It's probably more of a fantasy for me really at this point. Do you have any pics or a webpage about your setup?

Thanks,
allen

They work fine. If done correctly there is no loss and only gains. The secret is to get the runners long enough to move the 4th and 5th resonant modes down.

An airbox also helps. I've got various plots of a 4 pot engine on the dyno to show the change from stock to IR setup.

Drivability is then down to tuning.

Go for it.

Bill,

Could you post these plots somewhere? It would be interesting to see them.
