You tried one of my USB converters and they didn't work? Was that with Megatune? You mentioned 'other' system... I tested the 'heck' out of these things and haven't had any reports of issues with MegaTune so I'm obviously curious....

Jerry - I have one that is identical to yours (found it at Fry's) and it did not work. The "other" software is for the "other" ECU that we have in the racer. It has nowhere near the flexability of MT, but that is a topic for outside these forums. Interesting that the converter (the one that appears to be the same as yours) works on another computer (Dell Inspiron) but does not work on mine (HP pavillion zd7000). But, for the same price as a converter, I was able to get a card that works. Just throwing that out as an option for people who are having problems with their converters.

OK,

I am still 'playing' to get the feel of MT before i start tuning using my USB only equiped laptop.

I have sorted out the allocation of the comm port in device manager so i can point MT at it.

However, i can not seem to find the writeblock and interwrite delay settings in the ms-extra ini file. I have used 'find' but it can't locate it.

Can some one point me in the correct direction, is it near the top? Middle, bottom?

Cheers

I've been looking at MT2.25 and haven't found it either... Perhaps it was dealt with in another way since this thread! It is fairly old now...

Sorry, guys, I missed this earlier. Look in c:/Program Files/MegaSquirt/mtCommon/common.ini. A few of the system-wide parameters were moved here so that you can keep customizations that apply to all projects, but don't change between releases.

I've tried both PC cards and USB adapters. Nothing works for me. I guess i've got to find an old laptop. :(

I've had the opposite experience, I have yet to find a machine that I can't make work with just any old cheapo USB adapter. Turn off or minimize fifo stuff, set the device parameters to match those that you'll use inside MT and it always seems to work. I just got a new Dell laptop yesterday, plugged in an $18 belkin that I bought a while back and it works just fine.

Just wanted to provide some feedback on the USB to Serial adapter I picked up. Only $17+shipping at NewEgg. Has outstanding reviews, seems to work with everything, so I took a chance and ordered one.

Only at the Input testing phase of my board build but so far everything seems to be working as it should.
