LS2 coil supplier in UK

Post by monstermonkey »

After looking at coil options and not being able to find anything simple I've decided to try and get an LS2 coil for my single cylinder squirting project.

The problem now is I can't find anyone in the UK that supplies them.

Does anyone know of a UK supplier of LS2 coils, or any Coil Near Plug units that will work with Usquirt using logic level firing.

I cannot use a COP due to where the plug itself is located, which is a shame as I have some VW 4 pin COPs but never mind :(

Try contacting Andy at www.gdcars.com - they do a lot of LSx installs.

Could you not just use a normal coil, though?

Hi monstermonkey,

I bought some VW and Toyota or Nissan single coils off eBay that I think were logic level, I think the smaller was the Toyota/Nissan, but the VW/VAG unit definitely had a built in ignitor and was about £18 inc P&P new!
If you look for Intermotor 12916, you might find it. It is quite bulky, and you'll need a VW Golf/Polo etc plug lead, because it's a different HT connector to the usual car type oil filled coils. I reckon it's about a 65mm cube, but the base has the built in driver, and also a metal heatsink. The 3 pin connector is slightly bigger than the normal Junior Timer one too, but if you google you'll find it.

Not as small as a LS2 but a lot cheaper, and if you are clever, you can mod a pencil coil type to take an HT lead too!
