RPM signal disappear

Post by kemis »

Trying to get my MicroSquirt up and running on a Briggs & Stratton V-Twin engine on 35 hp.

I use:
- MicroSquirt v.3 and code version 2.905 release
- Hall effect crankshaft position sensor from DIYAutotune on a 36-1 wheel
- 2 pcs of LC2 to the Ignition

All sensors seams to have good readings in Tunerstudio.

The Hall give a nice signal to MS and I have test with the program that the CPU give a good reading 36-1. Have also test with a oscilloscope.

The engine is still running and I can run the engine tå se that the hall give right signal.

I have test to connect the hall on both +12V and ground and Vref 5V.
Both give the same results.
Any suggestions what is the best way to connect the hall sensor? Vref 5V or 12V?

I can get the RPM in Tunerstudio but then it drops to zero and stay there. Have to cut the power to get it to work again.

I have the LS2 coil on the side and I see the spark. When I start the engine I do not get any god spark of any at all but as soon the engine starts I get a spark but it walking around. The signal in to the LS2 do not look good if you look at it on a oscilloscope.

Do anyone have any idée what the problem can be in this case?
Can this be a grounding problem?
Do the capacitors needed on the connections to LS2 to reduce noise?

I'd run the sensor on 12 volts.

At what point does the RPM get stuck at zero? Do you have a data log of this happening?

I tried to change to MSextra 3.2.4 Beta and whit this everything start working.
Engine start on first try.
Probably some setting I have done wrong or something is different with MSextra code.

But thank you for your answer to help.

Have to buy some more units from you nu to my other engines.
