New Project
Right my latest project comes in the form of my suzuki sv650s motorcycle... in standard trim the vtwin sports bike was carboretted before 2003 and ran a CDI system. In 2003 FI was brought in along with an all in one ECU controlling fuelling and ignition.
Now I have the earlier one with lots of nice things like ducati exhausts etc and really "ruined" carbs. The newer models throttle bodies fit strait on.. and I guess I can sort something out with the fuel pump. Can I use the original send from the CDI to the tacho as an RPM input? it pulses with the front cylinder's coil basically so twice in every engine cycle.
I've read the manual as to where to start tuning but some of it goes right over my head.. I'm mechanically minded enough to work it but just need some pointers as where to start... In standard trim the idle speed is set at 1350 rpm, the vtwin has 650cc of displacement and never enough power lol. It runs a wasted spark ignition system.
As for my sensors I want to use as many of the standard ones as I can what measurements would I require from them?
Anyway any help would be great
Cheers
Dan

Re: New Project
If its a 12v or 5v square wave signal, then you should be ok to use the opto input to the uS.

Re: New Project
welcome to the dark side, finally another bike project.
my bike is now running, and ready to tune.
you will need :-
a microsquirt control unit, air temp sensor, water temp sensor, fuel pump.
with the SV i would souce an injection pump from a later model and modify you tank. the sensors, i would get the gm ones that are recommended...theses are 2 pin units. you wont need a pressure regulator if you use the suzuki pump.
wiring it....i used the option +ve and -ve, i connected the positve to the trigger wire for one coil and earthed the other, this was ok but i had a lot of spikes.
do some research first...read the forums, see if someone has done the conversion already
regards gary

Re: New Project
Megatune will do this for you. Go to Basic Tables\VE Table 1, then go to Tools\VE Specific\Generate Table. This tool will generate a rough table that should be enough at least to get your engine started once everything else is in place.
