I just went through exactly what you are describing and tried everything you did with the same results.
In the end I found out it actually was reversed leads on the VR sensor. When I changed them the first time I cut the leads and instead of switching them simply soldered them back together!
I swapped them again, correctly this time, and the problem was solved. Any chance you might have done the same thing? Just an idea.

No, I bought an entire harness for EDIS without splices. The 2 VR sensor wires are 2 different colors (Yellow and Pink). I switched them so that yellow was on pink and pink was on yellow to no avail. Plus Im not getting a RPM reading with the MegaTune set to EDIS on the Stim either. Thanks for your advice though.
