G60 Corrado Won't start. Please Help!

Post by Sodaguard »

I am very new at this so please don't flame me too bad.
91 VW Corrado G60 1.8 Supercharged
Megasquirt1 v2.2 running Megatune v2.25
Attempting to do a fuel only setup for now,
Initial start up, or lack there of. Tried changing cranking pulses, priming pulse, floods out and won't start. Got it going a couple of times but dies in less than 2 seconds. Help? You can smell gas at the tailpipe.

Also, the tach reads something like 6000rpm when cranking, I read about this but I can't find where I found it. Also I don't get any injector pulses, flood clear mode? even when not on throttle?

Thank You,

Phil

1. make a datalog and post here.
2. of durnign cranking MS is showing 6000rpm then you got incorreclty setup crank trigger, therefore it wont run. You need to make sure all your sensors are reading authentic values whiel crank sensor has to be spot on. are you triggering form the coil ?

I have it hooked up to trigger from the coil, do I have to change any settings to make it use the tach signal?

Yeah so what I now think I know is, I am having problems with my tach signal. Now I believe this may be in the wrong forum.
Any suggestions? Uuumm, Why doesn't the coil give the proper tach signal? Anything I can do to fix this? Now my head hurts, thinking too hard.

Thank You,

Phil

PS I would make a Datalog but my buddies laptop is not here right now.

soz matre, i'm not entirely sure. are all your settings as described in manual ? coil is probably giving good signal, probably ms is misconfigured and it's reading some wierd s**t.

make a datalog and post here. veryfi settings, post your msq.

I will try to get a datalog on here tomorrow, when you say that the ms could be configured wrong, what do you mean? Wired incorrectly? wrong settings/code? I have heard weird things about VW's ignition, the people running MSD ignition have trouble installing a tach.

Thank You,

i think it's wired ok, code will work (any will do really), but maybe rpm input is misconfigured (maybe it's expecting a tooth wheel). sorry, i cant tell more at this stage....

Wire pin MS 24 to the middle pin of your hall sender (tach in), wire a ground from your MS loom to the hall sender ground, put a 1kohm resistor between the MS pin24 and 12V after ignition (I did it across the DB37 connector) you should now have a rock solid RPM reading.

Make sure you`ve got all the constants set up properly as well.

Still nothing, what should my constants be set at? Is it possible that the MS is configured wrong?

Do I need to remove the jumper from XG1 to XG2? I read some wiring schematics on some other forums and they are wacky.

I'm gonna cry
