the Microsquirt is not yet available... it's currently in betatesting or betatesting is soon to begin. I notice they've updated the homepage w/ pics of the new case. That makes me happy.

Hello everyone!

We're modifying a VW Golf II 16V and the Microsquirt was the optimal ECU (old plan was modiefied Digifant 1 with new programmed chip). We've got everything together but the ECU so when can we buy the Microsquirt where (official release date in sight?)???

I don't think they're ready to announce a release date. If they were, they would have!

As MrBell points out, the beta testing is in progress (though very limited) and when B&G & company are satisfied, they'll make an announcement.

In the meantime, why is MicroSquirt your ECU of choice? Surely there is room (even in a Golf) for a full-fleged MSII install?

Of course there's enough room in a Golf MK2 but I wanted to put the ECU in the original place. Also the different connector and the -as I guess- better stability were interesting for me.

I'm from Germany and don't know how those modifications are handeled by US law but here every mod affecting engine, exhaust, undercarriage, wheelsetup,... (no matter how little) has to be certificated at the responsible authority.

So I wanted a system that looks nearly as stock. Then I could finish my entire Setup without worrying about police controls...

And I suppose with a "more professional" looking ECU there will be less problems getting my (expensive) certification.
