Sputters, pops, backfires

Post by gullwingmagazine »

Ok, here goes...

Im running MS II ver 2.3 and MegaTune ver 2.25

Using EDIS6 coil pack, controller, VR sensor, and 36-2 wheel

V6 PRV (Peugot, Renault, Volvo) engine that originally came with EFI so injectors, etc are all in place.

Have gone throught the config and tune sections of the MS II documentation

I did find the two of the injectors were stuck... thats been corrected

Great spark

Been back through the wiring several times... seems corrects

but she sputters, pops, backfires.

Sounds like she really wants to go... but something (probably minor) is holding up the show.

Any thoughts

Is this a new EDIS setup?

Sounds like a ign. timing issue to me.
Double check plug wires going to right plug and VR sensor is correct with reguard to wheel.

After blowing up a mufler from mixed up plug wires (repair manual was wrong) I like to remove the plugs (or not) and crank with a timing light on cyl 1 to verify the order is right before turning on fuel (pull the fuel pump fuse)

we'll be able to help more after seeing an msq and datalog.

good luck

the datalog file looks empty, was that the correct one? I'm with Jedrik, I would suspect spark plug wiring, it's very easy to get EDIS wires out of whack. Sometimes you just have to move plug wires around when all else fails.
