Baby fuel pumps?

The Honda Zoomer pump draws about 1A according to the Honda website.

They built it with the deliberate intention of reducing current consumption- the PGM FI system has to be able to fire using kick start in case of a flat battery or knackered starter.

Still 2A or 24 watts is not an unreasonable current draw.

Unfortunately the cost of Honda spares off the shelf is horrendous. The only other alternative is to keep searching ebay for scrapped bikes. The Zoomer is very new, so you'd be looking for one involved in a smash.

There are some small two stroke DI pumps as used on the Aprilia 50cc scooters.

However these tend to pump at higher pressure than required for port injection. Perhaps they could be modified for four stroke use?

I'm gonna try the aprilia sr50 fuel pump I just bought and give feedbacks to you guys. Hopefully it won't have a big current draw... and yes the fuel pumps from honda cost a lot (had a price around 300 euros)

The Aprilia pump (synerject piston pump) draws about 0.7A according to Orbital. Can also pump upto 7.5 bar, so use a port injection regulator.

I think you'll be fine with this pump suitable for engines upto 7.5kw.

I attempted to post yesterday, but I don't see it, so here we go again:
Has anyone had any luck locating a sub-2A(1A, preferably) draw fuel pump? I don't think the Aprilla will work for me, but the delphi and keihin units look nice... but I can't find them available anywhere. Anyone else find something?

Why are you sceptical about the aprilia unit?

It's ideal in terms of power consumption (about 1A)

The unit I have for my Isetta EFI project is from a Peugeot Jetforce 125.

It's a rotary vane pump of Siemens/Synerject origin, and draws about 24 watts at 12 volts, which is on the upper end of what you want.

Well... from your math, the aprilla will supply about a third of the fuel I'm looking for. I'm looking for something to work on the 30-40hp range.
The delphi unit looks most appealing, but they don't seem to be available...

Well if current draw isn't such an issue, then just go to a scrappy and pick out any pump from a small hatchback.

It doesn't matter if it flows a little more, the excess will return back to the tank.

Well they vary, but most pumps of that output won't be any longer than 4", with a range between 3-4", and a diameter somewhere between 1-2". Most of the pumps will be the kind that fit inside tanks, as this is the direction most OEMS have been going in for some time.

You may find older installations have external pumps, if that is what you are after, but I can't help with any recommendations I'm afraid.
