The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.

Compared to OEM systmes my injectors are very loud. The make a clicking noise when running. Should I look for a setting in MegaTune that might be off or is it nothing to worry about? Thanks. Brian

I would assume you have your PWM set correctly. If so you probably have nothing to worry about. Some injectors make more noise than others.
I have had three setups on my car. First 4 low-Z with PWM = Very quiet then same injectors with resistors and no PWM = Very loud! Then I went to high-Z injectors and they fall in the middle. Not real loud but not quiet either.
I was told once that if they're not clicking, they're not working.
New injectors are pretty quiet, but before long, they click. If old injectors don't click, they may be gummed up and need cleaning.
Thanks. I think I have my PWM set up correctly (looks fairly straight forward for high z injectors). I did have my injectors tested and cleaned by one of those services, so I think they are good. I won't worry about it.
Brian.

my weber marelli injectors are loud, so loud I spent an hour adjusting the valve clearances before I realised it was not the problem! I found that going from 1 squirt to 4 squirts helped a lot, became a buzz not clicks if yoe see what I mean.
Just be sure it is in fact the injectors that are loud. Use the screwdriver to ear trick or get the cheap automotive stethoscope, it works really well.
My buddy installed a new set of disc injectors and a batch fire EFI in his car at the same time. It sounded like a diesel but he wrote it off as the mammoth injectors all letting go at once and was proud of it. Turned out 70 miles later that it was the valves bouncing off of his pistons (had also just put in a new oil pump so he had a lil more lift, at least thats all we can come up with) End of a valve/head/piston/rod/block while cruising at 1700rpm...

This has me thinking. I listened to a DOHC ford engine today runs the same injectors I have and they dont click, at least not close to the same loudness. Is it possible that OEMs are ramping the open signal to prevent it. Seems unlikely I know, just thinking out loud. I cant ever recall hearing an OE engine making the same noise.
