Re: High tooth count wheel not reving over 2900

I tried flipping the polarity of the "M-0 w/falling" to M-0 w/Rising". The problem still persists, but now the trigger counts up from 0 instead of going negative. Also, my delay teeth is set at 0. I tried moving it to 21 as it's the 21st tooth BTDC that should line up with crank sync stud. It only ...

Re: High tooth count wheel not reving over 2900

I tried various resistors and made a few discoveries. First of all, none of the resistors helped on VR1 the countdown seems to vary in where it starts. I eventually made my tach get really erratic which made me go back and look at my earlier logs. I'm actually reading the RPM really well all the way ...

Re: High tooth count wheel not reving over 2900

I tried a 10K resistor and now I can rev higher, but still missing triggers. Previously I the trigger countdown would start at about 2400 RPM, now It doesn't start until about 3150RPM. What this seems to imply is that I need a much higher resistor. How big should I be looking at? What strategy ...

High tooth count wheel not reving over 2900

After solving my resetting issue, I was able to go out for a drive to start tuning things up. The car has a 130 tooth wheel with a crank sync. Everything runs pretty well up until 2900 RPM where my trigger +/- starts to count down really fast. This looks to me like the teeth are not being read by ...

Re: Megatune causing resets SOLVED

Well after another night clipping wires and pulling my hair out I finally found the culprit. It was actually the FIFO buffer in the device manager for my comm port. It was set way too high and I dropped it down all the way to the lowest setting and now it seems to be reset free. Now on to the next ...

Re: Megatune causing resets

I had 2 reasonably good sized cables for power. I cut one of them thinking that maybe I could have a loop there that was causing a problem... but no luck. I'm going to keep removing wires until I find something that doesn't cause resets. I had this thing running just fine when it wasn't doing ...

Re: Megatune causing resets

No, the laptop and the car are running without any plugs. I've started pulling all the unnecessary wires hoping to find some combination that works. Is it possible that I created a grounding loop with the shielding for my sensors.

What I have are two bosch VR sensors, each with three wires ...

Re: Megatune causing resets

Tonight I tried wrapping the wire in foil, new spark plug wires, new resistor plugs. Still resetting. Is there any way for me to narrow this down further? Is there another program that interfaces with microsquirt or just fires up the comm port to see it I can generate resets a different way?

Thanks ...

Re: Megatune causing resets

I updated to P3, and found that my cable has only 3 wires in it, so there was no dissecting that I could do. Still no resolution to the resetting problem. I removed all but one of my ground wires one at a time thinking this might remove any grounding loops, but this didn't work either. It still runs ...

Re: idling now, but some trouble with next pulse tolerance

Bruce, I do get resets with battery power. The car idles under it's own power with no battery charger as well, and I've taken it for a couple trips around the block. But as soon as I try to look at anything with megatune it starts throwing resets. I've actually started a more specific thread for ...
