Ok, I think I understand.

1. So, the 02 reading is not really quick enough to depend on for real time engine management.

2. It's good for getting an AFR measurement then suggesting what to do about it next time your at that RPM and Kpa (not doing anything about it instantly unless your holding ...

Thanks! That brings up another question though. Why even have the VE table if you have a wideband? Can't the MS just read the WB's input and then modify the fuel amount based on your AFR table for that particular cell?

thanks,
Fred

Quick question about AFR table and EGO correction

Hello,
I'm trying to wrap my head around the EGO correction, AFR tables and wideband 02 sensors (and autotune).

1. When using a wideband (just like a narrow band) MS is constantly trying to achieve stoich mixture, correct?

2. Unless you have an AFR table setup, then it tries to achieve whatever ...

Ok, I was given a fuel and ignition map from a friend with a similar engine setup as mine. The fuel map was quite a bit richer than mine and the spark map was quite a bit more advanced. The car no longer bucks on acceleration and revs up/accelerates pretty darn good, (too bad my exhaust sucks and is ...

Gotcha, thanks. Also, when importing new tables should I have the engine off and does the power need to be cycled or did I read that wrong somewhere?

thanks

Ok, doubled my lower AE numbers and it revs up pretty good while idling (did before too though) has a very slight delay from the time you push the pedal to when it revs but that's not too bad of a thing really.

But, it still bucks when I try to accelerate on the road unless I accelerate very slowly ...

As for my setup it was a 1990 Nissan 240sx with a CA18DET on the FORD EDIS-4 ignition setup. Turns out my problem was the embedded code 2.35 wasnt allowing me to do real time tuning, so we put in 2.36 and everything works like a charm and addicting to drive.

You may remember my write up on the ...

How to load new .vex files without losing the old ones?

Hello,
I've been given a fuel and ignition map from a friend that has a similar engine setup as mine, they are in .vex format. How do I go about trying them on my engine for a test drive but still be able to go back to my tables if I like them better?

I see that I can do a tables>veTable1>file ...

You know what, I just realized that running it rich isn't the best way to get the turbo to spool, infact it might not even work that well. The trick is to retard the timing which raises the EGT's. Drag racers do that to actually build boost while sitting still at the line waiting to launch. That's ...
