to reinforce what slabbielad quoted("Engines aren't as fussy as you may imagine") think of this: Engines have run on carburetors for more than 100 years and carburetors can almost never run "properly". They run "well enough" tho, which is the most important part...

Just to clarify something about the dual spark setups. You can have 1 input w/ 2 outputs, correct? And take the pin for the 2nd spark input and use is as knock enable(w/ some board modifications)?
would that be the opto in pin on this diagram:

MAF and knock

So, unless I'm totally blind today, it seems there is no knock capability on the uS. I was looking over the documentation on how to set up the MAF, so I'll be ready when I can get my hands on the uS.
If one goes pure MAF, is a barometric sensor needed? It would seem that this would be a bit ...

I agree w/ Lance. I've never had an issue w/ screw terminals. However, I am always a bit concerned about exposure to the elements with them. It's never been a problem, but something I've thought about.

If the USB cable shows up as a com port on the computer, then I am 99% certain that the phone has a MAX232 or equivalent in it and the cable is a USB-serial adapter. The cable or the phone could have both bits. This wouldn't gain you anything over having a standard USB-serial adapter(which can be ...

I'm a bit confused as to what you are trying to do. It sounds like you're wanting to use a USB-serial adapter, which you should be able to just do, but you still need the Max232 and serial cable.
Optionally, you could build a USB-serial chip into the ECU, but it certainly seems easier(and possibly ...

Well... from your math, the aprilla will supply about a third of the fuel I'm looking for. I'm looking for something to work on the 30-40hp range.
The delphi unit looks most appealing, but they don't seem to be available...

I attempted to post yesterday, but I don't see it, so here we go again:
Has anyone had any luck locating a sub-2A(1A, preferably) draw fuel pump? I don't think the Aprilla will work for me, but the delphi and keihin units look nice... but I can't find them available anywhere. Anyone else find ...
