So I am about to buy the above trigger wheel, but I still don't know how many teeth to cut off... Also, I have been reading on Hall vs. VR sensors, and can't seem to find if one would definitively work better for my application. Any input?

I would most likely end up key-holing it similarly to the camshaft sprocket. Depending on what wheel to sensor clearances I need I may have to just use one of those as a pattern and draw up one that fits my needs better dimentionally. Nice, so a single sensor on a 12-3 cam wheel, got it. I think I see on the wiring manual where it should hook up. So does that mean I would just use the crank sensor as a secondary tach input? I'll have to figure out the changing of firmware .

Upon further review, it doesn't look like the bike uses a VR sensor for the pulse generator-- its simply a square winding of wire with two leads coming of and so I'm back to thinking the bump (which is actually about 2 inches long) is a magnet, or perhaps something entirely unrelated.

Thank you dontz! I think you are correct in it being a VR sensor, as that makes more sense (at least in my mind) on how the cdi knows how to change spark timing in relation to engine speed.
