Re: All of a sudden, the engine is running ridiculously rich

Whew! I didn't think it was related to the microsquirt, and it turns out I was right!

I had bashed the hell out of the catalytic converter at the oregon trail rally, and it just took it a little while to get clogged. Now back to tuning! :)

All of a sudden, the engine is running rich - SOLVED

I'm having trouble with my car going really, really rich at full throttle, and then losing power after it has been running for a short while. It has me completely baffled. MSQ and datalogs attached. In the datalog, around 188990 seconds, is where I start my test. I floor the throttle and it runs up ...

Re: Temp sensor calibrations - are they in the msq?

It didn't ruin any fun, but it did make getting there a little more of a challenge. We ended up 3rd place in class on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday. Overall it was a great weekend.

Its all a learning experience. At least now I know what I need to do each time (that's half the battle! ;). I'll have to ...

Temp sensor calibrations - are they in the msq?

Over the weekend, I ran my Microsquirt-ed rally car in the Oregon Trail rally. The weather was the hottest we've had this year, and I discovered that the car runs really poorly when it gets hot outside. I also noticed the Intake Air Temp reported by Megatune, first thing in the morning when the ...

Re: Tach Output Problems

Wow! I'll be back home a week from tomorrow, and I'd be happy (more like thrilled) to beta-test it then. I am running 2.89 on microsquirt now, so I can always go back if I run into problems. Send me the files or info or whatever, and I'll fire it up as soon as I get back home.

Thanks!

Re: Tach Output Problems

Any rough idea for a time frame on this change? Also, is there an inexpensive brand of tachometer that is known to work with the microsquirt as it is now? I have my first race in 2 weeks, and I'd prefer to have a working tach, though I can just set up the ALED as a "shift light" for now. I have ...

Re: Sequencer First attempt in car

My Autometer tach is #7597.

Just curious. If y'all investigate the tachometer problem, is it just for the sequencer, or will it go back into the regular microsquirt, too? I've just been following this thread, since grippo pointed it out to me from a thread in the "ignition" section.

Re: Sequencer First attempt in car

My bad. I dragged my microsquirt tach output conversation into a sequencer thread :)

I'll give those a shot. I just like software solutions, because I'm a software guy. This in a rally car going on some very rough roads, so the fewer points of failure the better.

Re: Sequencer First attempt in car

Is it possible that its the polarity of the signal, rather than the pulse width? In a Tach Output thread in the Ignition section, someone noticed that the signal in the "old" software was 12V when the engine is off with 2-3ms ground pulses. In the new software, its ground when off and the pulses are ...

Re: Best Advice on Direct coil driving?

That's the approach I took. I figured I'd try it with the internal drivers, and if it didn't work I'd add some externals. I followed all of the recommendations. Its working well so far.

My ignition wires are separated from the microsquirt harness, and wrapped with a few strands from a stripped ...
