Re: microsquirt stopped communicating - processor ok?

I acquired a BDM programmer and found that I could communicate with the processor directly. The serial communication failure remained a mystery - reloading the software and using my prior settings - until I recalled that the failure occurred during the tuning process. I took a wild guess ...

Re: microsquirt stopped communicating - processor ok?

Thanks Lance These routes have been explored. No success. I am acquiring a BDM programmer to see if I can reload the serial monitor. Will report here on my progress.

microsquirt stopped communicating - processor ok?

I have a microsquirt Version 1.0 2007
While trying to tune - communication failed - I was able to reestablish by reloading processor code.

Communications failed again - have not been able to reestablish.

Have verified that 5v exists after the input power stage.

I cannot determine if the ...

communicating via terminal

When using the miniterm I get responses for S Q c however I get no response to - a - which I thought would return all variables in binary form. What is the proper protocol to query for the variables?

Re: dual spark mode rpm - megatune

I have modified my crank processor to produce two signals 180 deg out of phase to simulate the engine running at 620 RPM 48.5 ms apart. One to opto+ one to vrin2+. Everything works as advertised. The rpm readout is correct - the microsquirt dual ingnition outputs are firing in sych with the inputs ...

Re: dual spark mode rpm - megatune

Your calculation is correct however MT reports 134 RPM.

The software must be waiting until the count stated in your code below is satisified (I believe it wants 2 inputs/rev from at least the first input). Since I only provide one - twice the time would elapse thus half the RPM.

It is difficult ...

Re: dual spark mode rpm - megatune

Hi Al

I will try to provide the pertinent information as to what I am doing.

Attached find a photo of logic analyzer output decoding a GM 7 tooth reluctor wheel with "signature" tooth as described in your manual.

First trace processed reluctor output - second trace logic to be input to opto ...

dual spark mode rpm - megatune

I am sending two firing signals 180 deg apart one to optoin and the other to vrin2. I have specified 0 teeth. Megatune RPM is exactly 1/2 my actual cranking RPM. Any suggestions?

I have reloaded the microsquirt code - the problems have disappeared. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the explanation of wheel decoder logic.

My latest experiment - AVR microcontroller simulates a 36 tooth wheel 1 missing tooth skip 18 teeth 2ms per pulse/space 416 rpm. Works fine for 38 seconds - then the rpm display stops - time counting on real time display stops - very mysterious ...
